Meissen candlestick repair / restoration

Meissen porcelain restoration requires the skills and knowledge of the craft that have gone in creating and designing the original figurine. First the base color, which is almost always white, has to be matched and recreated. Then the pattern/design has to be matched and replicated, Meissen pieces are very elaborate and require great patience and attention to detail on the part of the restoration expert. Meissen porcelain is very strong and unlike many soft-paste porcelains, can withstand cleaning, gluing and bonding. However, because of the complexity of its design and pattern, it is recommended that only professional restorers with experience and knowledge of porcelain restoration should attempt to repair Meissen porcelain.

Even if your item is in hundreds of pieces I can restore it to the original condition.

Only jigsaw puzzle enthusiast or professional art restorer can put all the pieces together.

What TO DO and NOT TO DO when something gets broken

1. Most importantly, Save ALL the pieces. A lost piece can be reconstructed but this is more difficult and costly than simple assembly. Do everything possible to locate all the pieces. If something has broken in shipment look in the box or container very carefully. 2. Do NOT glue it yourself. Some glues are impossible to remove and make re-repair difficult .Different materials require different mending materials. To remove and redo repairs adds to the time and difficulty of repair.
3. Contact me to discuss the repair. In the case of rare and expensive items with few, clean breaks, repairs reclaim much of the value of the item. For family heirlooms and sentimental items it is the owners decision. I understand that sentimental value can make any item priceless and I look forward to working with you and preserving your family heirlooms to be shared for generations to come.
